The public number here has no signal in it at all.

The obvious way to size these bars would be last season's attendance for the same matchup. It is not possible. Basketball-Reference lists the Suns' 2025–26 home attendance as 699,911 across 41 games, and every individual game row reads the same figure: 17,071. Opening night against Sacramento, the Lakers before Christmas, Boston in February, both home playoff games against Oklahoma City — identical.
Suns road games in the same season vary constantly, from 14,268 at Memphis to 20,941 at Chicago. So the source is fine. This is a Phoenix reporting practice, and it means public Suns attendance carries zero information about demand.

These bars are real attendance, not a projection. The Mercury report an actual figure for each home game and it moves game to game — which makes this the tab where public data still tells you something. The tick is last season's 11,306 average. Almost every bar this year falls short of it.

The Mercury play in the same arena, under the same ownership, and report attendance the way the Suns do not: an actual number that changes. Across the eight 2026 home dates with a public figure, the average is 9,947 against last season's 11,306 — down roughly 12% while the team fell from 27–17 to 13–23.
That is a real, defensible year-over-year read from free public sources, and it is exactly the kind of number the Suns tab cannot produce. It also has a hole in it: only 8 of the 16 home games played this season have a published attendance figure that I could source. The rest are blank in public data.
